Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how our applications (the “App”, “Apps”, “Service”) published on Google Play under the developer accounts Islamic App Store and Islamic Books (“we”, “us”, “our”) collect, use and protect information when you use them.

Our mission is to make authentic Islamic knowledge — Quran, Hadith, Tajweed, Fiqh, Aqeedah and Islamic history — easily accessible to everyone. Protecting your privacy is part of that mission. By installing or using our Apps, you agree to the practices described here.

Apps Covered by This Policy

This policy applies to all Android applications listed in the Apps Covered section above — currently 160 apps — including:

Any new app we publish under these developer accounts is also covered by this policy unless it links to a separate one.

Information We Collect

a) Information you provide

Our Apps do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or location. If you voluntarily contact us by email (for example, for support or feedback), we will receive your email address and the content of your message.

b) Information stored on your device

Features such as bookmarks, last-read position, font size, theme, language and other preferences are stored locally on your device only. This data never leaves your phone and is not accessible to us.

c) Information collected automatically by third-party services

When you use the App, our trusted partners (see Third-Party Services) may automatically collect limited, non-identifying technical data, such as:

  • Device model, operating system version, language and screen size
  • Advertising ID (Android AAID) and app-set ID
  • Approximate (coarse) location derived from IP address — never precise GPS location
  • App interactions, crash logs and diagnostic/performance data
  • Purchase status (whether an in-app product was bought) via Google Play

Device Permissions

We request only the minimum permissions needed for the App to work:

PermissionWhy we need it
INTERNETTo load ads, verify purchases and fetch content updates.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATETo check connectivity before loading online content or ads.
com.android.vending.BILLINGTo enable optional in-app purchases (e.g. ad removal) through Google Play.
AD_IDUsed by Google AdMob to serve and measure ads. You can reset or delete it at any time.

We do not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, SMS, call logs, photos or precise location.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

Learn more: How Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Advertising

To keep our Apps free, we may display advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device’s Advertising ID, IP address and cookies-equivalent identifiers to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, prevent fraud and measure ad performance. Ads may be personalised based on your interests unless you opt out.

Control your ads

On Android go to Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads) to reset or delete your Advertising ID and opt out of personalised ads. Users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are shown a consent form (Google UMP) before any personalised ads are served, and can change their choice at any time from within the App.

We strive to show only ads that are appropriate for an Islamic audience and block sensitive categories (such as gambling, alcohol and dating) wherever the ad network allows it.

In-App Purchases

Some Apps offer optional purchases (for example, removing ads or unlocking premium content). All payments are processed securely by Google Play. We never receive or store your credit/debit card number, billing address or other payment details. We only receive a confirmation that a purchase was completed so the feature can be unlocked. Refunds are handled according to Google Play’s refund policy.

How We Use Information

  • To provide, maintain and improve the App and its content
  • To remember your preferences, bookmarks and reading progress (on-device)
  • To display advertising that keeps the App free
  • To verify and restore in-app purchases
  • To diagnose crashes, fix bugs and improve performance
  • To respond to your questions, feedback and support requests
  • To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud or abuse

Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. Information may be shared only:

  • With the service providers listed above, strictly to operate the App
  • When required by law, court order or governmental request
  • To protect the rights, safety and property of our users, the public or us
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition or transfer of the App, in which case this policy will continue to apply

Data Retention & Deletion

Data stored locally on your device remains until you clear the App’s data or uninstall it. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request. Data collected by third parties is retained according to their own policies (for example, Google Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months by default).

How to delete your data

Go to Settings → Apps → [App] → Storage → Clear data, or simply uninstall the App. To request deletion of any data associated with you, email us at — we will respond within 30 days.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. All network communication with our partners uses encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

Our content is suitable for all ages, but the Apps are not directed primarily at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Where an App may be used by children, ad requests are configured to be treated in accordance with Google Play’s Families Policy and child-directed / under-age-of-consent settings, and only non-personalised ads are requested. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA, Brazil under LGPD), you may have the right to:

Access your data Correct inaccurate data Request deletion Object to or restrict processing Data portability Withdraw consent

To exercise any of these rights, email . You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

International Data Transfers

Our service providers (such as Google) may process information on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. These providers use appropriate safeguards — such as Standard Contractual Clauses — to protect your information in line with applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the “Last updated” date at the top will be revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Questions

Frequently Asked

Do I need to create an account to use the apps?

No. All our apps work without any sign-up or login. You can start reading immediately.

Do the apps track my location?

No. We never request GPS or precise location permissions. Ad partners may infer an approximate region (country/city) from your IP address to show relevant ads.

How can I remove ads?

Many apps offer an optional one-time in-app purchase to remove ads, processed securely through Google Play.

Will my bookmarks be lost if I uninstall?

Yes. Because bookmarks and progress are stored only on your device (for your privacy), uninstalling or clearing app data removes them permanently.

Do you sell my data?

Absolutely not. We consider your trust an amanah and do not sell, rent or trade personal information.

How do I request deletion of my data?

Clear the app’s data or uninstall it to remove on-device data. For anything else, email us and we’ll handle your request within 30 days.

Still have questions?

We’re happy to help. Reach out and we’ll reply, in shā’ Allāh, as soon as possible.
